Our Animal Hospital History... A Local Legacy from Anderson to O'Sullivan

Oak Hammock Animal Hospital was founded as Anderson Animal Clinic by Dr. Wendell "Doc" Anderson and his wife Rosalyn in the mid 1980's. Although it started as a small, two-room clinic, the practice grew continually over the years as Doc Anderson gained a reputation for being a caring, trustworthy doctor for Sebring's pets and farm animals.

As the practice expanded in the 90's Chris O'Sullivan, a local college student and regular client, joined the practice as a veterinary assistant. Working under Dr. Anderson, O'Sullivan became certain that he wanted to turn his love for animals into a career as a veterinarian.

In 2005 the Andersons had the current 5,500-square foot hospital built across the street from their original, 1,000-square foot clinic and moved the practice. At age 75, Dr. Anderson decided he wanted to retire after 50 years of practicing veterinary medicine in the U.S. and Australia.

In June 2016 he sold his practice to his former employee, Dr. O'Sullivan. Having graduated veterinary school in 2000, Chris O'Sullivan had been practicing at a 24-hour hospital in Winter Haven before coming full-circle to become the new owner of Anderson Animal Clinic.

Looking to the Future

Looking to the Future

Anderson Animal Clinic's name was changed to Oak Hammock Animal Hospital in 2018. Dr. O'Sullivan is pleased to be back in his hometown, serving the community he grew up in. He looks forward to bringing his training and expertise in practicing advanced medicine to his small-town hospital.

Oak Hammock Animal Hospital continues to provide high quality veterinary care to the dogs and cats of Highlands, Hardee, and Polk counties under its new management. Over the years significant upgrades have been made to the practice's facilities and equipment. Dr. O'Sullivan plans to continue and expand upon these improvements in order to continually improve the level of care and customer service provided at the hospital. Dr. O'Sullivan, his wife Tara, and their team look forward to meeting you and your pet, and to many years serving the Sebring community.
