Parasite Prevention and Control

Parasite Prevention and Control

When you adopt a cat or dog you only want to be bringing one new critter into your house. That's why it's important to practice effective parasite prevention and control with your new four-legged friend! Parasites like fleas and ticks are irritating to pets and can cause disease, while heart and intestinal worms can be fatal if left untreated. Additionally, it is possible for some of these parasites to infect humans. Therefore, we offer full parasite testing and comprehensive treatment options for our patients in Sebring and the surrounding communities. Because when it comes to parasites and your pet, the best offence is a good defense. Ask about parasite prevention options at your next wellness appointment!

Why Prevention is Important

Why Prevention is Important

Although most parasites are treatable, prevention is always the best option! In addition to being irritating to pets and humans, fleas can cause severe allergic reactions in dogs and cats. Furthermore, ticks can carry Lyme Disease, which can cause nausea, high fever, joint pain, and even death in dogs. Parasite prevention and control can save your pet significant suffering and save you time and frustration.

Prevention starts early! Kittens and puppies are often affected by parasites contracted from their mothers during pregnancy or nursing. All our wellness checks include parasite screenings. Bring your puppy or kitten in as soon as possible to ensure any problems are treated swiftly or can be headed off before they start.
